THE HUDSON PRIDE FOUNDATION TO JOIN LOCAL REAL ESTATE FIRM AT 18TH ANNUAL GAY EXPO IN NYC

Martha Harvey, Executive Director of the Hudson Pride Foundation, announced that the Hudson Pride organization is being introduced at the 18th Annual GLBT Expo, to be held March 12 and 13 at the Javits Center in New York City.

"Ann Levitt of Beach and Bartolo Realtors in Chatham, has invited us to participate in the event in which Beach and Bartolo's booth will promote Columbia County as a welcoming destination for the gay and lesbian community," stated Ms. Harvey.

In addition, they have invited Timothy Howard and Charlie Ferrusi, the King and Queen of the Hudson High Senior Class, to be present at the booth. Their election last year became a national story and has raised awareness in Columbia County and beyond, that Columbia County has an inclusive environment.

Chuck Bartolo, Principle Broker of Beach and Bartolo Realtors, stated that the Hudson Pride Foundation, organizing the first Hudson Pride Parade, has helped create a greater level of acceptance and respect for future generations. "We are proud to be a part of the GLBT Expo and to present Columbia County and all its beauty and culture, to the 20,000 attendees at the show." Beach and Bartolo, now located in Chatham, is one of the areas oldest real estate firms and it has a long history of supporting a variety of local organizations. "Giving back to the community has always been a part of our company's focus" said Bartolo.

The Hudson Pride Foundation is now preparing for this year's Hudson Pride Parade which will become an annual celebration. Other events are being planned which are intended to raise awareness and visibility of the gay and lesbian community in Columbia County.

We asked local artists to donate works of art and the community has come through! Proceeds will benefit the Hudson Pride Foundation. We have to start raising money for next year's scholarships and next year's parade which will be BIGGER and BETTER than last year's Hudson Pride parade! Porta-potties don't pay for themselves!"

The Silent Auction will take place at 554 Warren Street, with a cocktail party and music by DJ Abel. Then, there's an Afterparty at 'pm, the wine bar'. We can't wait."

JUNE 2010:

FIRST EVER PRIDE PARADE & FESTIVAL PUTS HUDSON ON THE MAP

Looking back, it seems surreal. It was the first week in May 2010, and Trixie Starr decides, "This is the year!" Hudson, NY will have a Pride Parade & Festival & it will be great! In a demonstration of what can be done when a group of people believe in a dream & commit to making it happen, 6 weeks later Hudson celebrated pride... BIG!

The weekend of festivities began with a sunset cruise aboard Spirit of Hudson. The cruise sold out immediately. The one & only Musty Chiffon provided entertainment. DJ Gio kept everybody on the dance floor & Kevin Moran; owner of PM Wine Bar in Hudson sponsored the whole affair.

Sunday arrived & so did the crowds! Warren St. has never looked so colorful as it did that day. Hundreds of pride flags waved their way from 7th Street Park to Promenade Hill. Trixie Starr, Mistress of Ceremonies, commanded the stage, and presided over a 4-hour fun-filled rally & festival on a stage overlooking the Catskill mountains & the Hudson river. It was a perfect day & a perfect way to celebrate pride.

The Hudson Pride Foundation provides under-graduate grants & scholarships to meritorious students in Columbia County, NY who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression as well as students who have demonstrated a real commitment to promoting & supporting LGBT equal rights.
